I got my first camera almost 50 years ago when my parents brought me my old grandmother’s camera. It was old box camera not good but looking somewhat like a Hasselblad – but the quality very different from any Hasselblad! I bought a camera also bad quality Agfa instamatic camera some years later.
I think I got my first real camera when I was about 12 years old – Olympus OM-1N a camera that I used a lot and I would say I worned out. I spent hours and hours in the darkroom also, processing films and working with enlargers. The dream at some time was to become a photographer – working at a news paper. For some reason that never came to reality.
Now I use Nikon Digital camera, my phone and drones for photography. My photos are now mostly on Flickr under the name eir@si.
The name of this web (eirasi) is my photographer name that I started to use in my high school years on an exhibition from that time. We made an association among the students – called Ljósbrot and we put up exhibition twice before I graduated and went to university. Good or bad – I did not go to photography art school but mechanical engineering instead – I think I have in general never properly fitted in anywhere.
