Fagradalsfjall eruption 2021-2023

From my first visit to the Fagradalsfjall eruption, 21st of March, two days after the eruption began. What was very unusual with this eruption is how small it was in the begining and how for how long time it lasted.

About the eruption
The eruption began 19th of March 2021.

The lava from the Fagradalur eruption, active in periods in years 2021 to 2023. The first eruption started in March 2021 and it was quite active in that year. The last one was in July 2023 and the area has been quite since. The pink colored lava on the map is from the last eruption but the brown lava is the eruptions 2021 and 2022.

21.04.2021. Late in the evening. I and my brother were going to stay a little bit longer but you can see most of the people leaving the area in the hill behind. The place was said to be closed during the night so people in the most common viewpoints were told do leave. The hill there is I think the one called Gónhóll and is now almost buried under the lava.
